The partnership between CAM-CCBC and the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot dates back to 2009. Since Brazilian universities began participating in the Moot, CAM-CCBC has been the main supporter of the competition in the country, sponsoring teams, organizing pre-moots and hosting moot-related events.
CAM-CCBC has been organizing its traditional Pre-Moot in São Paulo since the 17th Moot. In the 2016 edition of the CAM-CCBC Pre-Moot, registration was limited and 18 teams from Latin-America participated, competing for scholarships to cover the teams’ travel expenses to Vienna and Hong Kong, amounting to more than R$ 200.000,00.
Since 2014, the CAM-CCBC also organizes the Moot Marathon (MaMoot) with MUTUSP (Association for the moot of the University of São Paulo) and ABEArb (Brazilian Association of Arbitration Students). The marathon consists in the discussion of the relevant issues of the case (jurisdiction and merits) by scholars, practitioners and arbitrators shortly after the problem is released.
Additionally, CAM-CCBC is always gathering great names in arbitration and CISG to lecture in events: Gary Born, Ingeborg Schwenzer, Martin Hunter, Loukas Mistelis, Stefan Kröll, Eric Bergsten, Yves Derains and Louise Barrington have all contributed greatly for preparation of the mooties over the years.
